A concrete pathway can be a useful addition to your garden. Concrete is a durable material and easy to maintain. Concrete is easy to customize. The following are some ways to design an unusual concrete garden pathway…

Pathways With Stepping Stones and Grass

A path in a lawn can become a feature in its own right. Where constant use is likely to wear bare patches in a lawn, an inexpensive solution is to set stepping stones into the ground at regular, paced-out intervals and sow grass seed around the stones. Choose stones that are attractive and practical to walk on. With this method, you can choose any shape for the stepping stones.

Mural Walkways

Over the last decade, it’s become more and more common to see concrete enhanced with color in both interior and exterior design. You can design images for your pathway. Colored concrete can be combined with other decorative techniques such as exposing the aggregate or stamping a medallion. Exposed aggregate concrete is more expensive but it will add to the ambiance of the garden. You can utilize two colors to show off a pattern. Or with a medallion, you could keep the rest of the walkway a subdued color and let the dyed medallion take center stage.

Mixed Materials Pathway

Another advantage of concrete is you can embed it with bricks or river rocks. Make a brick design down the center or add etching to emphasize the shape of the bricks. Or use your concrete slab as a foundation to embed river rocks as a pattern.

Overlapping Steps

If you have a sloped yard, concrete pathways can solve the incline. A shallow step instead of a slope can be an advantage to the pathway. If you want a modern feel more consider a series of overlapping circles. If a traditional look is what you like try stamping and staining techniques.

Paths With Patterns

Patterns are classic, timeless, and orderly…and they look amazing against a natural backdrop. Imagine the natural paths you would take in your backyard and devise a series of straight paths throughout the whole yard. Have the contractors install pavers or pour slabs for the walkway or even a combination of both.
